The 2001 cult classic, Super Troopers was a box office success. Costing just over 3 million dollars, it grossed 23 million at the Box Office. That success didn’t help the sequel.
On March 24, 2015, Broken Lizard announced that they had received studio permission to film the sequel, but had to locate production funding themselves. Due to this requirement, Broken Lizard initiated an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, asking for $2 million in contributions. Within 14 hours, 73% of the funds were raised and a total of 4.4 Million Dollars was raised to make the movie.
