The Florida Fraternal Order of Police is calling for the resignation of Stuart Mayor Eula Clark.
It stems from a derogatory comment made by the mayor earlier this month after she walked into a grocery store.

Officer Edward Fitzgerald was already inside the store, talking to an employee.
According to the police union, Clark said, “I didn’t know we were serving pig tonight.”
Mayor Clark has since apologized.
“On behalf of the Florida State Fraternal Order of Police, I would like to express our outrage at the reprehensible comments made by Stuart Mayor Eula Clark towards one of her very own law enforcement officers earlier this month.
Our elected leaders are representatives of the electorate and therefore should support the men and women of their law enforcement agencies rather than vilifying them and creating division that is unnecessary and uncalled for within our communities. It is actions and attitudes like these, among other societal issues, that have led to instabilities in cities like Chicago.
While Ms. Clark has written this off as an “unfortunate event,” her actions speak louder than words. On her behalf, it showed a lack of character and an inability to represent and lead in a judicious and unbiased manner.
For this reason, we feel it is best if Ms. Clark resigns from her position as the Mayor of the City of Stuart so that its residents may have the leadership and vision they need and deserve.”
The Police Benevolent Association has also asked for her resignation and vowed to find a candidate to defeat her in the polls in the next election.
