A Sacramento Police K-9 was stabbed during a confrontation with a suspect on Monday night.
Officers said the suspect rammed his truck into a gate and a parked police car at the Sacramento police substation.
Several officers started chasing the suspect’s truck until the suspect crashed into a yard on Rosalind Street and started running away.
Police released a K-9 to chase the suspect. Officers then shot at the suspect multiple times as he fought the K-9 and stabbed him.
Officers said the suspect had previously broke into a home and attacked a resident with a pipe.
The extent of the suspect’s injuries are not known.
KCRA3 reports that the K-9, identified as Reno, was taken to a veterinary hospital and is being treated for lacerations.
The K-9 is expected to survive.
