Lt. Jeff Neville is currently listed in stable condition after being stabbed Wednesday morning at the international airport in Flint, Michigan, authorities said.
CBS News reports that an airport police officer was stabbed in the back and neck in the public part of the main terminal.
A suspect is in custody.
Local media reports that the FBI is investigating the incident as a ‘possible act of terrorism.’ The Canadian born suspect shouted “Allahu Akbar” before he stabbed the officer according to Click Detroit.
The airport has been closed and the FBI is the lead agency on the incident.
Lt. Neville has been working for the Bishop International Airport Authority since 2001. Prior to that, he was a deputy sheriff for the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department for 17 years, until he retired there.
