The vehicle he was pursuing continued to flee and its driver remains at large.
Randolph County State’s Attorney Jeremy Walker, in a news release, said the officer was attempting to stop a 2006 red Pontiac G6, bearing license plate number Z121833. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Jason Michael Stoker, 34, of Chester, according to Walker.
Walker said a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Stoker on a charge of aggravated fleeing and eluding. Additional charges “are likely,” the prosecutor said.
Officer Brockmeyer had served with the Chester Police Department for only 10 months. He is survived by his parents and sister.
