Only MLB Player To Kneel Is Arrested On Gun Charges

Oakland A’s Catcher Bruce Maxwell has certainly been busy.  After becoming the only Major League Baseball player to kneel during the national anthem this season, he went to his hometown of Huntsville (AL) a few weeks ago and claimed that he was refused service at a restaurant because of his kneeling.

That claim was disputed by the waiter Matt Henry who claimed that “I didn’t even know who Bruce Maxwell was.”

Now we find out that Maxwell, who is projected to be the starting catcher for the Athletics in 2018, allegedly pointed a gun at a female food delivery person in Scottsdale, Arizona on Saturday night.

Scottsdale police said officers went to Maxwell’s home Saturday night after getting a call about a person with a gun. Maxwell was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.

According to TMZ Sports, police said Maxwell was held in custody pending an initial appearance.

Maxwell, 26, hits near the Mendoza Line with a .237  average last year in 76 games. We will let you know as this story develops.

  1. cravinbob .

What does his kneeling have to do with the separate and alleged crimes? Implications of “paybacks”? Sending a message to others that Freedom Speech is all well and good for the press and not citizens?
To say he was arrested on gun charges but pulling a firearm out and pointing it at someone is in my state Felony menacing, an F3 meaning 3 to 5 years in prison or even perhaps a First Degree attempted murder which are not simple
“gun charges” they are criminal felony charges, the kneeling mentioned is a red herring.
The other commenters here should worry you, they can barely make a sentence and have found the person guilty already. Mouth breathers and knuckle draggers who can be summoned to appear for jury duty in your trial. Sound good to you? And they find it easy to ridicule others from the safety of home.
Failing to stand or salute the flag is actually exhibiting far more respect for the flag than those who wish to punish others who exercise the Freedom of Speech and to ask for forced allegiance and by not complying they should be imprisoned is the opposite of what it stands for. The flag represents those Rights. The Confederate Battle flag does not represent hate but the Stars and Stripes surely represents stupidity. Citizens race to the aid of hurricane “victims” with truck loads of items that people in hurricane prone areas should already have for such an emergency but are rewarded for laziness. Those born into poverty are seen as shiftless lazy bums and no aid is forthcoming to the mythical “welfare queens”.
The court of public opinion fostered by government propaganda that has created more bigotry than ever and also cancelled the concept of innocent until proved guilty. We are doomed, beyond any doubt.

FYI, the Mendoza line is .200. Hitting .237 ain’t good, but it ain’t close to Mendoza.
