LAPD Chief Injured in Motorcycle Accident

KABC-TV reports that Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck was involved in an off-road motorcycle accident in the Tehachapi Mountains on Saturday, October 29, 2016.

Chief Beck is a motorcycle enthusiast and was riding with friends when the accident occurred on a rocky trail according to a news release from the LAPD.

Despite his injuries, including suffering a fractured pelvis, Beck was able to ride back to his truck and drive home.  He then underwent emergency care at a hospital, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

On Sunday, Chief Beck took to his Twitter account to express his appreciation to his many well-wishers:

“Thank you all for the outpouring of concern and support. A terrible accident happened while doing something that I love very much. I’ll be actively involved in day-to-day operations as I continue to heal. See you soon.”
