3 Chicago Officers Shot, Suspect Killed

Three Chicago officers were shot in the Homan Square neighborhood Monday night while a woman who was with him was in custody, police said.

The officers, all veterans with about 10 to 12 years on the police force, were expected to survive.  One officer was reportedly shot in the chest but was wearing a ballistic vest.

The officers went up to two individuals to talk to them when one started to run away.  During the foot chase, the suspect shot at the officers, striking three of them.

At least one officer returned fire and shot the attacker, and the attacker was dead at the scene, police said.
