The Oklahoma Blue Alert Act is designed to notify citizens nearby if a law enforcement officer has been targeted, hurt, shot or killed.
Oklahoma becomes the 28th state to implement the Blue Alert system.
It will be managed by the Department of Public Safety and it needs to meet specific criteria before being issued. For example, there either needs to be a name for the suspect, a detailed description of the suspect or a detailed description of the vehicle.
The Oklahoma Blue Alert Act goes into effect on November 1.
