Possible celebratory gunfire is the preliminary reason why a young boy felt a strike to his head during Tulsa’s annual fireworks show — landing him in stable condition at a hospital with a bullet wound.
Tulsa (OK) Police Cpl. James Stump said a 9-year-old boy told his family about 9:50 p.m. Monday at Veterans Park that he felt something hit him in the head. The child was transported to a local hospital, Stump said, and doctors confirmed the youngster was hit by a stray bullet.
Doctors stated the child’s condition is stable and that the bullet will be removed later, according to information Stump provided as of 3:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Stump said the preliminary investigation indicates the boy’s injury may be a result of celebratory gunfire.
