LONGVIEW, Texas (AP) — One person has died and four others are injured, including one critically, after a stabbing attack at an East Texas hospital.
Longview police detained a man following the stabbings Tuesday morning at a surgical unit of Good Shepherd Medical Center.
CEO Steve Altmiller calls the attack an isolated incident.
Officer Kristie Brian had no immediate information on charges or a possible motive for the stabbings at the Ambulatory Surgical Center, across the street from the main hospital.
Good Shepherd spokeswoman Victoria Ashworth says a woman who worked at the hospital died. Ashworth says a visitor is in critical condition, while another worker and two other visitors are in good condition. Names of the victims weren't immediately released.
Longview is 120 miles southeast of Dallas.
