A cyclist riding in a newly painted bike lane was knocked over by a police squad car in San Francisco on Thursday — the city’s Bike to Work Day.
Footage shows the squad car pulling over briefly to the right-hand turn lane of Second Street, before swinging back to the left into the adjacent lane and striking the cyclist, who was knocked to the ground after slamming into the cruiser’s driver-side door.
The clip was uploaded by tech company Nexar, whose smartphone app records the road as users drive. The phone acts as a dash cam and is primarily used by ride-sharing and taxi drivers.
