An East Hampton (CT) police officer was badly injured after being struck by a vehicle on Route 66 Sunday night.
Just after 8:45 p.m., the officer was directing traffic while an Eversource power crew was working to repair a utility pole on West High Street, also known as Route 66, nearMaple Street. According to East Hampton fire officials, the officer, who was not identified, was struck by a motorist. Police have detained the driver.
The officer was taken byLifeStar emergency medical helicopter to Hartford Hospital.
