The gunman that killed veteran Tacoma (WA) Police Officer Reginald Jake Gutierrez threatened to kill two children as he barricaded himself upstairs in a house for 11 hours.
Then a 6-year-old boy escaped.
But the coward still held an 8 year old girl as a human shield. A SWAT Team Sniper peered through a scope waiting for the split second in time to end the tragic standoff and prevent further tragedy.
Just like a Tulsa Sniper a few weeks ago that took one shot to save a 2 year old, in a moment in time, combined with a window of opportunity of only inches, a breath was exhaled and the shot was broken.
The standoff was over.
“Once we were able to assess that the kids were still alive, it went into play,” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said of the SWAT team’s plan to end the standoff in a suburban neighborhood south of Seattle. “He had a choice to put the guns down. We weren’t about to let those kids get hurt.”
