The Chicago Tribune reports that the Chicago Police were shot at in two separate incidents early Saturday.
About 3 a.m. officers were on patrol in the area of the 2500 block of South Avers, responding to a report of a shooting. They saw a car speeding away and began to follow it, and at some point someone in the vehicle began shooting at the officers.

Authorities were able to curb the vehicle and two people ran off. One person was arrested and charges are pending.
Then about 5:20 a.m., police were on a traffic stop in the 2000 block of East 71st Street when shots were fired in the officers’ direction.
