The footage was released after an eight-month campaign by Michael Pierce Sr, who had previously told WHSV that ‘something wasn’t right’ with the police’s account of his son’s actions.
He said he didn’t believe his son would act like ‘a madman.’
However, speaking to WHSV on Tuesday, he said he was satisfied with the police’s report after watching all of the bodycam footage.
‘I really believe that no one wants to take someone else’s life,’ he said, ‘And I think Michael made some really bad choices that night… And he paid for it with his life.’
Three officers fired five rounds with only the fatal bullet striking Pierce. It hit him in the chest, going through his lungs and heart.
