The mainstream media is unable to report fairly when a police shooting happens.
The latest example comes out of Milwaukee where a black police officer shot and killed Sylville Smith, who refused to put down his gun.
Of course it took hours and a lot of looking to find out those details. In fact, Law Officer was one of the first to report it and as much as we would like to say we have the best investigative journalists around, we can’t exactly compare to the major news networks. Isn’t it amazing how we beat them to this story?
CNN took it to the next level when they selectively editing what Smith’s sister Sherelle said to reporters.
“Burnin’ down s*** ain’t going to help nothin! Y’all burnin’ down s*** we need in our community,” Sherelle told reporters. “Take that s*** to the suburbs. Burn that s*** down! We need our s***! We need our weaves. I don’t wear it. But we need it.”
CNN stopped rolling the clip after Sherelle’s comments about her own community. They framed her comments as “calling for peace.”
The New York Times ran a headline saying the Milwaukee suspect was “unarmed”. They retracted it the next day but they know what we know. First impressions are the story.
Members of the media can’t help it. They see opportunity in stoking the racial divide. Race plus emotions sell. There is no better example than the Ferguson narrative. “Hands Up…Don’t Shoot” was poured down our throats for months. It still is and yet, none of it is true.
The media stoked the flames in Ferguson which is stoking them in every other major city and at the end of the day the only one that wins is the media. They sell ads, retain viewers and lie to you all the way to the bank.
