The 49ers aren’t the only team pledging money to help foster partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
Thursday also saw the Packers and coach Mike McCarthy announce that they have each made grants of $100,000 to the Green Bay Police Foundation. The grants will “be directed to support the Foundation’s efforts to build and enhance relationships between the police and the community.”
“I’m excited to support the Green Bay Police Foundation and its work to help all the Green Bay communities build those relationships,” McCarthy said. “It’s important so our children can grow, they can invest, and they can project a healthier and safer community. We want to shine a positive light on the enhancement of these engagement projects that are already in place.”
Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith says the Foundation has raised $30,000 since it started in June.
