Texas Officer Killed In Shootout

Update – 9:40 pm

Euless Police Chief Mike Brown announced that the deceased officer was David Hofer.  It is reported that he was with NYPD for five years prior to joining the Euless (TX) Agency.

The below video was taken by a bystander where the shooting can be heard.


Update – 6:50 pm

Sources have given us some additional details on this line of duty death.  Two officers were dispatched to shots fired at J.A. Carr Park.  Both officers arrived on the scene and approach the suspect who produced a gun and opened fire on one officer.  The second officer returned fire.  The officer and suspect were transported to different hospitals where they were both pronounced dead.


A Euless officer and a suspect have been pronounced dead after the pair exchanged gunfire according to WFAA.

Initial reports have said that police responded to the area of J.A. Carr Park after receiving reports of shots fired. At some point, there was an exchange of gunfire between the officer and suspect, who was also hit multiple times. 

There is no additional information at this time.

This is the 12th police officer gunned down in 2016.
