Sheriff Protects Bird That Laid Eggs On Police Car
A mommy bird has found a perfect, yet unexpected place to have her babies – a Butler County (OH) Sheriff’s Office car.
Butler County deputies said they observed the dove, nicknamed Jailbird, build a nest on the car’s windshield Monday.
Jailbird has since laid two eggs, according to a news release. The sheriff’s office personnel often checks on her, deputies said.
Sheriff Richard Jones has ordered deputies not to use the county vehicle, which is parked at Court Street Jail in Hamilton, until Jailbird completes her incubation period. Deputies said the incubation period can last two weeks.
