Police Officer Stabbed In Fight With Suspect
A Lancaster City (PA) police officer was stabbed and another injured during a confrontation with a man at a park in Lancaster on Sunday, police report.
According to police, two officers approached a man who was sleeping and appeared to be camping in Farnum Park on Strawberry Street in Lancaster. The man, who police identified as Brian Sanchez-Padilla, became belligerent, at which time officers attempted to place him under arrest for disorderly conduct.
As they were taking him into custody Sanchez-Padilla began to fight with officers, punching one in the head and slamming her into the ground. Police said he then took a pen from the ground and stabbed the first officer several times in the leg.
Sanchez-Padilla was eventually subdued by additional officers, one of whom was also injured while taking him into custody. Both injured officers were taken to the hospital where they were treated and released.
