A police officer sprang into action when a boy climbed over a guardrail on a New York interstate and jumped from an overpass.
Jessie Cavallo, a Hastings-on-Hudson police officer, said she was on her way to work when she saw the boy running along the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers on Friday.
The boy stopped and jumped about 30 feet from the overpass, landing on the concrete below, News 12 Westchester reported.
The 28-year-old police officer said she parked her car on the shoulder, grabbed a first-aid kit and jumped after the boy.
Cavallo administered CPR with the help of another good Samaritan. They also managed to put a neck brace on him and make a splint for his arm.
Paramedics later transported the boy to Westchester Medical Center, where he is recovering. However, details about his condition were not immediately available Monday morning.
