Breaking: 3 Baton Rouge Officers Killed, 7 Shot

CNN reports that three Baton Rouge (LA) police officers have been killed.  A total of seven officers are being reported as shot at this time.  Some are in critical condition.

The shooting happened around 0900 hours on  Sunday, less than 1 mile from police headquarters.

Police received a call of “suspicious person walking down Airline Highway with an assault rifle.” When police arrived, the man opened fire.
Kip Holden, the mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish, said authorities were still trying to get a handle on the situation, but added, “The count is three officers dead possibly.”

There are multiple reports coming from the area with some indicating an active shooter situation.

A witness told WBRZ-TV, a man was dressed in black with his face covered was shooting indiscriminately when he walked out between a convenience store and car wash across from Hammond Air Plaza, according to Fox radio affiliate WJBO.
