The Detroit Branch of the NAACP and civil rights attorneys on Tuesday renewed their criticism of Michigan State Police Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue after she shared a Facebook meme critical of pro football players who kneel during the National Anthem.

She removed the post and apologized afterwards.

The Rev. Wendell Anthony, president of the local NAACP branch, said during a press conference at the group’s headquarters that Etue is symbolic of a culture of racism within Michigan State Police.

State police spokesman Lt. Michael Shaw said Tuesday’s press conference was “35 minutes of political grandstanding.”

“What a wasted opportunity,” Shaw said. “They could have invited the district commander to sit down and talk about how we can make the department more diverse. But we didn’t get that opportunity. Not one phone call.”

Etue has come under fire after she posted a meme on Facebook that said: “Who wins a football game has ZERO impact on our lives. Who fights for and defends our nation has every impact on our lives. We stand with the heroes, not a bunch of rich, entitled, arrogant, ungrateful, anti-American degenerates.”

Etue is being investigated by the department on whether she violated department policy by posting the meme on her personal Facebook page. Possible sanctions range from a written reprimand to a five-day suspension.

Thou shalt not speak in opposition to leftist-prescribed orthodoxy. This urge to get people fired for having an opposing opinion is getting out of control!

Hogwash! On and on and on and on! Will it ever end and folks just get busy getting their trade or education, earning their living, taking care of their families and living their faith. – there wouldn’t be so much time for nit picking every single thing that any human being utters?!

I’ve spent 37 years in law enforcement. This display by these pampered players is reprehensible. I, along with officers all over the country defend these players rights to protest, but there is a time, place, and venue for their protests. The field of play isn’t it. The sad part is that these protests are mostly unfounded. Whether they choose to read statistics is their fault. But they are kneeling from an ignorant perspective. So I agree with her.

Never apologize for speaking the truth!! Never back down when speaking the truth. Intimidation is a tool of leftist swamp dwellers… not be intimidated, but push back….hard.

    NAACP is the black KKK

  6. Billy Jack

If I were in ANY law enforcement position today, I would QUIT immediately!

They are supposed to be “law enforcement officers” yet they are no longer allowed to enforce the LAW!

Look at KKKalifornia, who just made it illegal for them to do their JOBS!

I would take a job scrubbing toilets, at least THERE you would not get fired for doing what they pay you to do!

    Insanity, Absolute insanity!

I want to post a meme here, but I suspect it would get censored. It is a picture of two cops laughing and it says They said F$%^K the police, so I said F$%&K your 911 call, I will get to your dying homie when I finish my coffee!

And another that says cops are racists and want to kill blacks? No, if we wanted to do that ALL we would have to do is stop patroling those neighborhoods….. and wait.

ONLY in law enforcement do people get hated for trying to protect people!

The only thing I can and do fault her for is … her apology for the truth.

  8. nraendowment

    She speaks the truth.

It’s about time we started ‘calling a spade, a spade.’ The Colonel is absolutely correct. I’m tired of good, solid people being intimidated by racists (like Al Sharpton) who acts as though the rest of the world should kiss his ass. Enough BS is enough.

  10. Rose Beane

The Meme has nothing to do with racism. I would not leave and I would not let them fire me w/o a better reason. In my opinion, it shows just how prejudice the NAACP and civil rights lawyers can be!

  11. Peter Burdick

    Bravo Colonel.

  12. Jalaine Fojut

I don’t think anything on a person’s personal page should be used to try and get them fired……are they not allowed any freedom when they are off duty? NAACP is way overstepping their boundaries here.

Most departments have a “social network policy”. Some ask for your password. Some monitor your page and most policies state that you can be disciplined for just this kind of thing. When the policy was introduced at our department I wrote a strongly worded letter to our chief expressing my concern about such a policy and how it was tantamount to a restriction on several of our Constitutional rights. I found out that those rights don’t exist for officers the same way they would for you. When I retired after 32 years in law enforcement in Georgia I immediately started making up for lost time. If I were her, I’d take a 2 or 3 day suspension (and she will be suspended due to our politically correct left ding ways in our country) and I would consider it an award for upholding her oath to defend the USA against all enemies, domestic, foreign or the nfl. My 2 cents. tlk

But yet the NFL can’t stop the “take a knee,” crowd.
