‘Mystery Machine’ Leads Police on High Speed Chase

‘Mystery Machine’ Leads Police on High Speed Chase

Redding police are searching for a Shasta County woman who led officers on a chase while driving a minivan painted to look like the “Mystery Machine” from the cartoon Scooby Doo.

The chase began Sunday afternoon after Shasta County Probation officials contacted police regarding Sharon Kay Turman, 51, wanted for a probation violation, according to KRCR.

Police would find Turman inside the 1994 Chrysler minivan painted to look like the famous cartoon Mystery Machine.

However, Turman led police on a pursuit that had its share of twists and turns not unlike the cartoon that inspired the van’s paint job.

Police report Turman escaped officers, driving through an intersection red light and hitting four other cars in the process.

Turman later abandoned the vehicle and escaped authorities. At this point she remains at large.
