Governor Wants To Name Training Fund After Philando Castile

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton is requesting that a new law enforcement training fund be named in memory of Philando Castile.

The request comes after Officer Jeronimo Yanez was acquitted from being charged with manslaughter in the case.

Minnesota lawmakers set aside $12 million to train police in working with diverse communities. Dayton says he hopes the fund will help improve police relations with citizens of all colors and wants it named the “Philando Castile Law Enforcement Training Fund.”

After the shooting, the Governor declared that Philando Castile would not be dead “if he was white.”

Dayton named Castile’s uncle, Clarence Castile, to the Peace Officer Standards and Training Board. The board determines law enforcement training requirements.

This is one of those moves that will not please anyone on any side of this issue. But, I do applaud the effort. I think there has to be some kind of way those of us fearing for our lives from law enforcement and those of law enforcement who are just trying to make it back home each day – can come together and get some meaningful change happening on this issue. I think most days – it just means talking with one another – not across one another. But, it also starts with acknowledging the problem – people who should not be dying in their interactions with law enforcement are dying. I don’t think my confidence is misplaced in believing that if we all put our heads together with a genuine desire to see improvement on this matter – we undoubtedly will see improvements.

I’ll just call the idea inappropriate. What I want to type would quite likely see me banned.

I’ll try pushing the envelope a bit, Mr. Fivey. He is an excremental buffoon; a window licking consumer of the crayon, paint chip, and paste buffet who doesn’t know what he doesn’t know and is so far out of his lane that he has crashed about 100 yards into the field on the far side of the frontage road. Or maybe just a standard issue political hack. But I repeat myself.

I think Dayton is smoking the same weed as Philandro, Other than that, I have nothing to say. I’m working on cleaning up the beverage shot through my nose onto my computer…..Good One!
