Braintree Police Officer Donald Delaney was shot Friday night when he responded to a motel to serve a warrant.
According to the chief, when officers arrived at the room the suspect opened fire, and at least one bullet struck the officer in the face.
Officer Delaney was transported to a Boston hospital and does not have life-threatening injuries.
Delaney has been a member of the Braintree Police Department since 2010 and has received two life-saving awards.
After the suspect barricaded himself in the room, area SWAT Teams arrived.
