According to Scott, a two-officer unit attempted a traffic stop of a red vehicle in the 4200 block of Bernau Avenue.
The vehicle pulled over and Scott said at least one of the occupants attempted to flee on foot. One of officers chased the suspect and a “very violent encounter” happened 200 to 300 yards away from the car.
Shortly after that, there was an exchange of gunfire between one of the officers and one of the occupants of the vehicle.
Two people were in the vehicle and both are in police custody, Scott said. One of the suspects was shot and their condition has not been released.
