Tybee (GA) Police Officer Tron Lewis was killed in a motorcycle wreck Saturday around noon on Highway 17 when, he was off duty riding his motorcycle, a driver pulled out in front of him.
The officers are going through a rough time, but some of his fellow officers parked Officer Lewis’ patrol car out front of the station with a wreath in his honor.
Some officers circled around and others kneeled in front of the patrol car. It was a place for officers to grieve.
Lewis has been described as friendly, upbeat and motivating.
“He was a great guy, he always had a friendly smile and a firm handshake for his fellow officers. He motivated all of us to be at our absolute best and just to stand in his presence put you in a good mood. He’s a very positive upbeat guy,” said Lt. Randolph.
Before Tybee, Officer Lewis worked for the Ware County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy and drug unit member.
Lieutenant Randolph has this message tonight, “I would ask that everyone be aware of your surroundings while on the road. Be aware other vehicles around you and especially motorcycles and everyone get home safely.”
Lewis leaves behind a wife and children.
