Bonner County Commissioner Dan McDonald confirmed on Facebook Monday morning that two Sandpoint police officers were shot. He said they were both “doing well.”
According to KHQ, the two officers responded to a call for service at Ridley Village at around 3:10 a.m., when a suspect stepped out of their residence and began firing at the officers. Both were struck by bullets.
KHQ reported one officer was transported to Kootenai Medical Center and is currently in surgery. The other officer was transported to Bonner General Hospital.
The condition of the suspect is unknown.
The shootings are the second and third shootings of law enforcement officers in North Idaho in less than a week. On Tuesday Coeur d’Alene Police Officer Charles Hatley was injured when he was shot near Government Way and Hattie Avenue in Coeur d’Alene.
