A Texas student blackmailed his former middle school teacher for nearly $28,000 by threatening to expose their alleged sexual relationship to police, according to court documents.
Thao Doan — a teacher at the Raul Quintanilla Sr. Middle School — was charged with sexual assault last week after the boy’s mother suspected they had an inappropriate relationship, according to a police affidavit obtained by the Dallas Morning News.

The boy’s mother first raised concerns about Doan this month, saying the educator gave her son “large amounts of money” and was using it for “illegal purposes,” the affidavit states.
The boy said in a threatening message to Doan that he was going to gather photos to show police if she didn’t cough up the money.
Doan eventually confessed to police that she communicated with the student over Instagram and other social media platforms before they had sex at a park in summer 2015. From there, the pair began having sex between November and December, according to the affidavit.
