The New York Daily News reports that assaults on police officers have sharply increased in New York City as cops devote more focus to violent offenders — though overall across the city crime continues to drop.
Rather than continue to exercise the stop-and-frisk tactic, deemed unconstitutional by a local judge but still lawful under the Supreme Court Case, Terry V. Ohio, police have instead chosen to focus more time and resources to targeting violent criminals.

There have been 995 attacks on cops through September, a 23% increase compared to the 800 incidents through the same period last year.
The silver lining appears to be that gun arrests continue to rise and overall crime continues to fall, despite the precipitous decline of stop-and-frisks.
