According to 10 On Your Side, a man is in custody after firing several shots at a Virginia State Police trooper. That trooper was not injured.
According to a VSP spokesperson, it started at 6:49 p.m. Saturday, when a trooper saw a Ford Explorer hit another vehicle on Armistead Avenue near I-64. The trooper tried to pull over the SUV but it took off.
Police say the trooper followed the Explorer to I-664 before the driver exited onto Powhatan Parkway.
The pursuit ended when the Explorer ran into a yard at Briarfield Road and Glenrock Drive. That’s when police say the man in the SUV started shooting at the trooper.
The trooper was not injured but his cruiser was hit several times. The suspect ran off with the trooper and other area officers running after him. He was taken into custody. Charges are pending.
