A San Francisco police officer was shot in the head while pursuing a possible robbery suspect in the city’s Taraval District Friday evening.
KTVU reported that the officer was conscious and breathing and is expected to survive. The officer, who has not yet been identified, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his injuries. His exact condition was not immediately clear.

The incident began at around 8:15 p.m. local time when police responded to a possible robbery at a sporting goods store. KGO reported that police tried to confront a mentally ill man who reportedly pulled out a handgun and opened fire, injuring the officer.
The suspect was taken into custody about an hour later after SWAT utilized flash bangs on the suspect.
