Detectives are investigating after a Phoenix police officer was the victim of a drive-by shooting that happened just after midnight on Saturday.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, a motor officer was trying to stop a white Chrysler when someone inside the Chrysler opened fire on the officer. After firing a shot, the vehicle fled east.
Moments later, officers found the Chrysler, which had crashed into a wall at the Black Canyon Freeway access road located just south of Butler Drive and north of Northern Avenue. The vehicle was abandoned, and it was determined it was a stolen vehicle.
The suspect was not located and the officer was not injured.
