Two off-duty officers on a fishing trip reeled in a wanted man instead.
WoodTV reports that the pair of Albion Public Safety (MI) officers were putting in their boat at the Duck Lake public boat launch Thursday when they spotted Joshua James Buchanan and called Calhoun County dispatch.
When Buchanan started to leave the boat launch Thursday, the off-duty officers identified themselves and took him into custody without incident.
The officers held Buchanan until deputies arrived to take him to jail.
Buchanan is a suspect in an attempted arson at the Consumers Energy substation on Elm Street in Battle Creek.
On Wednesday, a Consumer Energy employee noticed something suspicious inside the station and called police.
The Battle Creek Bomb Squad removed the device, which police say consisted of two plastic jugs of gasoline and some burnt papers.
The FBI aided in the investigation.
