Baltimore Police confirm an officer was shot in South Baltimore late Wednesday night, as he approached a vehicle that had been reported carjacked.
The shooting happened on Bethune Road near Round Road around 11:30 p.m., about 40 minutes after the carjacking, according to BPD Chief Spokesperson T.J. Smith.

Smith said the officer sustained a “serious injury” to his wrist, but was alert and conscious at Shock Trauma. His injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.
The carjacked vehicle was spotted by CCTV cameras before officers approached.
Shots rang out as two officers in plainclothes approached the stopped vehicle. Only one officer was struck and the other helped to apply a tourniquet.
After the shooting the suspects fled in the vehicle to the end of a cul-de-sac, rode up on a curb and fled the scene.
The officers did not discharge their weapons during the incident and the suspects remain outstanding.
