Tim Barfield

Tim Barfield is in his 35th year as a police officer. He started as a police officer in a rural village before transferring to an inner ring suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. He spent 32 years in that department gaining experience in many areas of police work. In 2014, he accepted a position as police chief for another department. He is a husband, father and grandfather who has a love for police work and police officers with a goal of helping them succeed in a great profession. His responsibilities and desires have included patrol, traffic, DARE, SWAT, training and supervision. He is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association. He continues to learn and instruct on subjects with an emphasis on awareness, police survival mindset and ethics.

Steve Neal

Captain Steve Neal (Ret.) served as a law enforcement officer in Virginia for 29 years. During his tenure he was fortunate to experience a wide range of assignments which included Uniform Operations, Criminal Investigations, Covert Operations, Director of the Emergency Communications Center, Director of Training, Support Services Commander, and Inspector for the Office of Professional Standards. Co-founder and partner of the Leatherman & Neal public safety consulting team, Steve enjoys providing leadership training for peace officers. Dan Milchovich

Dan Milchovich, D.P.A.., holds a Doctorate in Public Administration from the University of La Verne (CA) , a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California where he earned the Honorary Robert J. Barry, Director Emeritus Award For Academic And Professional Excellence, USC School of Public Administration, Delinquency Control Institute. Milchovich also holds Bachelor of Arts Degrees in both Criminology and Sociology, each earned at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Throughout his 30-year law enforcement career he served in a variety of capacities, most recently as a Captain at Inglewood (CA) Police Department where he was assigned command of the agency investigative function. Prior to that, he commanded all uniformed patrol services.
Milchovich has authored several articles for prominent law enforcement trade publications and has had editorial perspectives appear in several major national newspapers. Sgt. Chuck Humes

After 32 years of law enforcement service with a large urban police department, Charles E. Humes, Jr. honorably retired at the rank of Sergeant in 2015. Independently achieved, he is recognized internationally as one of the pioneers of modern, realistic police defensive tactics training. He has taught seminars and instructor certification schools as far West as Alaska and as far East as North Carolina; and has trained police instructors from as far as Hong Kong.

Malcolm A. McGuire

Malcolm McGuire is a 12-year law enforcement veteran, and currently serves as a patrol officer with the City of Denton Police Department in Denton, Texas. He is a hostage negotiator and advanced law enforcement instructor. Malcolm teaches on various topics, including Cultural & Generational Diversity, Professional Policing and Special Investigative Topics. He is a United States Air Force veteran and is currently assigned to his unit’s training section where he is responsible for keeping unit members up to date on training tasks both expeditionary and law-enforcement specific. Matthew Stiehm

Dr. Matthew J. Stiehm has received an Educational Doctorate from Argosy University, where the focus of his research was campus safety and security. He has a Master’s Degree of Criminal Justice from Central Missouri State University, with his final paper which focused on the investigation of child abuse and finally a Bachelors of Science from Wayne State College, Nebraska.
