RICHMOND, Va. An update to a state report on the 2007 shootings at Virginia Tech now says university officials locked down a few buildings and some informed their own family members about the initial killings before a campuswide alert was issued.
The revision, which was made public Friday, also adds details about Seung-Hui Cho's (sung-wee joh) troubling behavior and information from his mental health records. Cho killed 32 people before fatally shooting himself.
Gov. Timothy Kaine asked for the revision after new information emerged following the August 2007 report by a panel he appointed.
Victims' parents had pressed for corrections and wanted university officials and others to be held more accountable.
Virginia Tech spokesman Mark Owczarski didn't immediately return a telephone message seeking comment Friday morning.
