SAN DIEGO, Calif. – July 31, 2012 – The HALO Corporation and UTM/Phoenix, providers of the leading non-lethal training system, today announced UTM/Phoenix is a diamond sponsor of the upcoming HALO Counter-Terrorism Summit (www.thehalosummit.com), which will fully occupy a private island in San Diego for five days of homeland security tactical training scenarios, live action demonstrations, and classroom education. Taking place October 29 – November 2, 2012 at Paradise Point Resort Island, the Summit is the largest multi-jurisdictional counter-terrorism event of its kind, leveraging the island setting, dedicated marina and 44 acres of space for groundbreaking, experiential training.
UTM/ Phoenix will present several close quarters battle (CQB) training scenarios utilizing its reality-based training system, which includes weapon conversion kits, non-lethal training ammunition, safety magazines, training props, portable training facilities and personal protective equipment. The participation by UTM/Phoenix will make training as real as possible for the Summit’s military and law enforcement attendees.
UTM/ Phoenix will be teaching force-on-force classes that go far beyond the typical classroom environment. Three training stations will be set up throughout the event, including:
· The active threats and tactical transitions station will include situational scenarios that transition between various active threats (Active Shooter, Homicide Bomber, Hostage and Barricaded Subject). Participants will have the opportunity to rotate through the station several times to maximize training benefits.
· The use of force/protocol application station has environments consisting of rooms, hallways, opposing doors, offset angles and more — arranged with targets and role players. Participants will need to make split-second decisions while applying tactics on shoot and no shoot responses.
· The gun battle station will be a competition-style setting – training participants to use all of their skills and apply them to stressful situations. Skills tested will range from accuracy, re-loads, cover management, cornering, stress management and more.
In addition to these valuable training stations, UTM/Phoenix will also have a fourth station with a 30-meter static range, within the vendor area, where they will be demoing all products from their reality-based training system. Each day of the Summit, UTM/Phoenix will also be hosting a four- hour UTM certification course that covers safety, technology, equipment integration, operational considerations and shooting/skill exercises.
The UTM/Phoenix Training System incorporates scenario-based force-on-force training methodology, technology and equipment, preparing the operator for the realities of combat. This leading system provides a methodology for enhancing skills, concepts and applications while testing protocols, evaluating performance and program effectiveness.
