LAUREL, Md. – Authorities say a U.S. Park Police officer has been hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
Prince George's County fire department spokesman Mark Brady says a vehicle hit a patrol car from behind early Tuesday. It occurred on the parkway between Route 197 and the Powder Mill Road exit.
Brady says the officer apparently was not inside his vehicle at the time, but suffered serious injuries because of the accident. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Brady says a woman also was taken to a hospital with injuries.
Southbound lanes of the parkway have been closed as authorities investigate the crash.
