BELLFLOWER, Calif. (AP) — The California Highway Patrol says two people have been shot and wounded on a Los Angeles County freeway.
CHP Capt. Daniel Minor said two cars collided on State Route 91 in Bellflower Thursday night, then two men from one car stepped out and shot two in the other.
The shooting suspects then abandoned their gray sedan, got into a passing SUV and fled. Minor says it's not clear whether the suspects knew the driver of the SUV or carjacked them.
Minor says there is evidence that the people in the two cars were interacting before they collided.
The CHP says one victim was in critical condition and the other was shot in the elbow.
The shooting shut down the freeway's westbound side, but lanes began reopening after about two hours.
