PHILADELPHIA— Officials in Philadelphia say two police officers were seriously injured when their car collided with another vehicle.
Police spokesman Lt. Raymond Evers tells The Philadelphia Inquirer that the 25th District officers were heading to help patrol officers who had stopped another vehicle.
On the way there, their police cruiser collided with another northbound vehicle and struck a fence and pole at about 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Both officers were taken to Temple University Hospital in serious condition but were later listed as stable. The occupants of the other vehicle were uninjured. No arrests were made.
Commissioner Charles Ramsey said at the hospital that he was just glad that the officers' injuries were not life-threatening.
Police said that at the initial vehicle stop, one person was arrested and another was being sought.
