NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Her state police colleagues say the trooper who died last week in an on-duty crash squeezed all the joy she could out of life and was a quick-to-learn, effective trooper.
Police say 31-year-old Amanda Anna, a six-year veteran, may have been pursuing a violator last Friday night when her marked Tahoe crashed and overturned.
More than 1,400 people came to Friday's funeral, including Gov. Andrew Cuomo and police from all over the Northeast. Officers filed into the North Syracuse Baptist Church with their hats held over their hearts.
The Syracuse Post-Standard (http://bit.ly/KxNUY6 ) reports that Trooper Andrew Lodge told the congregation that Anna, his fiancée, found joy in everything. Anna had a 4-year-old son.
She will be buried in Fair Haven in neighboring Cayuga County, where she grew up.
