SEMINOLE, Fla. – SEMINOLE, Fla. – A standoff that lasted more than 14 hours ended around 11 a.m. Monday morning.
Deputies have arrested 18-year-old Jonathon Breingan. SWAT members found him hiding under clothes and blankets in his 72nd Avenue apartment.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Breingan was involved in a yelling match with three people in a car, apparently over a stop sign, around 8:30 last night, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives say Breingan hit someone inside the car. They say he then went back into his apartment, retrieved a gun and fired a shot at the three people in the car.
Detectives say Breingan then barricaded himself inside the apartment with three other people. They were released later on.
SWAT teams using armored vehicles sealed off the area.
"My son's good kid. He's a sweet kid. He's never done anything violent," said Ammy Breingan.
At one point during the standoff, SWAT members fired two rounds of tear gas inside the home.
No injuries are reported. Earlier this morning, Breingan's grandfather, Don Breingan, told ABC Action News reporter Don Germaise, "I'm sure he's scared. That's why he's not coming out. He's a kid still."
