VACAVILLE, Calif. – A teenage boy is accused of breaking into a Vacaville home and viciously attacking a 13-year-old girl and her infant brother.
Police say the young victims were home alone at the time of the break-in after midnight Sunday.
The 14-year-old suspect allegedly woke the sleeping girl, stabbed her more than 30 times and raped her.
The baby awoke during the struggle, and the attacker also stabbed him.
Police Sgt. Denise Quatman says the teen eventually fell asleep, giving the girl an opportunity to grab her brother and escape. Both at a hospital in critical condition but are expected to survive.
Quatman says officers found the suspect asleep in the victims' home.
He's being held in juvenile hall on suspicion of attempted murder and sexual assault.
