SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Authorities say a San Francisco police officer ran into a burning home to rescue an elderly woman.
The San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/17PuNTy ) says Officer Matt Lobre arrived at the home in Japantown Thursday afternoon and was told an elderly woman was upstairs.
Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White says Lobre ran through smoke and flame to the third flood, kicked in a door and carried the woman to safety.
She was treated for minor burns and Lobre was treated for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion. He's 42 and has been on the force since 1998.
The fire was doused within 45 minutes.
There's no word on the cause.
