SAN DIEGO (AP) — A San Diego police officer has rescued an unconscious man from a burning car.
Police say Officer Dionisio Medina was on duty in the Clairemont Mesa area at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when he saw an SUV rear-end another car that was stalled in the road.
The stalled car, a Chevy Impala, burst into flames.
Medina ran over, smashed a car window and pulled out the 20-year-old driver.
That driver and the 41-year-old man in the SUV were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Medina was treated for smoke inhalation.
