The Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center (SRFECC) will be implementing NICE Inform to capture and manage emergency communications and incident data. Organized as a Joint Powers Authority (JPA), the SRFECC is one of the largest fire dispatch centers in the State of California, dispatching over 150,000 incidents annually, for eight regional fire/EMS (emergency medical service) agencies. Working with these departments, the SFECC provides fire protection and emergency medical service for nearly all of Sacramento County and a small area of Placer County, covering one thousand square miles and helping to ensure the safety of more than 1.3 million residents.
The Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center selected NICE Inform, in part, for its ability to improve the SRFECC's interoperability with the fire/EMS agencies for which it provides dispatching services. In addition to being the primary dispatch center for these eight agencies, the SRFECC is responsible for maintaining records relating to incidents. NICE Inform will make it easier for the agencies to collaborate on post-incident reviews, training and investigations.
"We dispatch by closest available unit, but with our topology and propensity for serious fires, it's not uncommon for multiple agencies, with shared personnel and resources, to respond to the same emergency," said SRFECC Communications Center Manager Penny Adams. "In these circumstances, for incident reviews and investigations, we need to be able to share complete incident data with all of the responding agencies as well. On large scale incidents, we could have up to five requests for the same information," Ms. Adams added. "Before, we'd have to manually duplicate all of that data on CDs. With NICE Inform, we'll be able to assemble multimedia incident reconstructions in electronic incident folders which can be securely accessed online by our member agencies, for review or training. This will greatly enhance our efficiency and ability to share information."
"Interoperability is critical for Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS and our other public safety customers, for post-incident review," said Chris Wooten, President, Security Division Americas, NICE. "We're pleased that the Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center will be able to take advantage of NICE Inform's strong capabilities in this area, joining many other public safety agencies."
Other factors key to the SRFECC's selection of NICE included NICE's ability to offer a fully redundant voice recording and incident information management solution. SRFECC joins a growing list of NICE customers in the state of California, including, among others the San Francisco Police Department, the City of San José Police Department and the Monterey County Emergency Communications Department (ECD), which also use NICE solutions to capture and manage emergency calls and other incident information.
NICE Inform also offers the Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center (SRFECC) the option of seamlessly integrating voice recordings and video in the future (for example from a fire scene flyover), to add another layer of visual information to incident reconstructions, should SRFECC elect to add that capability.
NICE Inform is the world's first full-spectrum Next Gen 9-1-1 ready multimedia incident information management solution, designed to help public safety and security command and control centers capture, consolidate and manage multimedia incident information, including audio, video, text and data. Captured emergency communications can be seamlessly synched with surveillance video and other incident information, and easily shared for effective and thorough investigations.
