WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita police say a van struck and killed a lawn maintenance worker and the driver went about three miles with the victim still on the roof.
The Wichita Eagle reports the driver struck a 32-year-old who was working by the street near the entrance to a Hawker Beechcraft plant entrance Friday morning.
The victim ended up on the roof and the driver continued driving until he reached a house about three miles away.
Witnesses who saw the van driving with the victim on the roof called 9-1-1, and someone followed the vehicle until it stopped at a house.
The victim was covered with a blanket on top of the van while police interviewed witnesses and the driver.
Authorities weren't saying Friday if they expected charges to be filed.
